  Animal testing?
  Jason shares your concern that animals not be used to test cosmetics, toiletries and household products. They do not test their products or ingredients on animals, nor do they ask others to do so. Furthermore, they require that all their ingredient suppliers meet the same criteria of no animal testing. The Leaping Bunny logo found on their labels is an outward symbol of their commitment.

  What does the Leaping Bunny logo on JASÖN packaging represent?
  The Leaping Bunny logo is an internationally recognized symbol for cruelty-free cosmetics, personal care and household products. In 1996, eight national animal protection groups banded together to form The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). This organization created and administers the Leaping Bunny Program, a cruelty-free standard for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products. The Leaping Bunny Program provides the best assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers.

  Are JASÖN products certified organic?
  they believe in ethical and sustainable agriculture and business practices, including organic farming, and they source certified organic ingredients whenever possible. Their products themselves are not certified organic – except their certified USDA Organic Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera Oil and Coconut Oil. All organic ingredients found in their products meet all federal requirements for organic ingredients in food products and are noted in their ingredient lists. These ingredients are certified by organizations including Quality Assurance International (QAI), Oregon Tilth and other respected third party organic certification agencies.

  Are the products vegan?
  JASÖN products use 100% vegetarian ingredients. There is only one animal derived ingredient that they use in their products. The sourcing of this ingredient is done in a harm-free, stress-free, cruelty-free manner that does not impact the health or welfare of the animals. Check the specific product label for the following ingredient to determine if the product is suitable for your lifestyle: Beeswax (found in their Cooling Minerals & Tea Tree Muscle Pain Therapy).

  Are the ingredients Biodegradable?
  JASÖN products are primarily composed of plant-based ingredients which are generally biodegradable and environmentally-friendly. For some of their product lines, they have had them tested by an independent lab and validated their biodegradability – their everyday shampoos and conditioners, body washes, hand soaps and sunscreens (except Facial Sunscreen) are all third-party confirmed biodegradable formulas.

  Do JASÖN products contain sodium lauryl sulfate?
  Some JASÖN surfactant products (shampoos, soaps) contain an alcohol-based sulfate known as sodium coco sulfate. This ingredient was chosen because it is plant-derived, meets their high standard for gentleness and creates a luxurious sudsy lather during use. Multiple organizations, including the consumer advocacy group, Environmental Working Group (EWG), an independent team of toxicologists known as CIR, and the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Science, agree that sodium coco sulfate is a mild and safe ingredient. Sodium coco sulfate is also an approved surfactant under the NSF/ANSI 305 Standard for Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients.
  
  Sodium coco sulfate is created from the coconut plant which contains a natural blend of several types of alcohols that can produce sulfates. Coconut alcohol naturally contains lauryl alcohol which is the origin material for sodium lauryl sulfate. For this reason, products made with sodium coco sulfate may contain some amount of naturally occurring sodium lauryl sulfate. Because it is blended with milder surfactants, it is much milder than purified sodium lauryl sulfate.

  JASÖN products currently claim to be made without sodium lauryl sulfate. While there is no sodium lauryl sulfate directly added to their products or listed in their ingredient lists, they acknowledge that there may be some amount of sodium lauryl sulfate contained in some of their surfactant products as a constituent of the sodium coco sulfate. For this reason, they believe it is more accurate to remove this claim from their packaging and materials and have begun that process. They also continue to evaluate alternative surfactant ingredients that deliver superior product performance while meeting their high standards for gentleness and safety.

  Is the packaging recyclable?
  For all of their packages, please refer to the recycle symbol and handle accordingly for the area in which you live. Most of their bottles, jars and tubes are recyclable. Their cardboard packaging can be recycled along with other chipboard and cardboard materials.

  What is the shelf life of the products?
  Shelf life varies from product to product. They recommend you consult the Open Jar symbol on packaging to determine how long a product will maintain its freshness after it has been opened. For example, an Open Jar symbol with “12M” indicates that a product will function as intended for 12 months after it is opened assuming normal use and storage.

  While there may not be anything wrong or unsafe once a product has passed this time frame, they can no longer be certain their strict standards of quality are satisfied and request that you no longer use the product.
