Magnesium Malate
While most people may be aware of magnesium supplements, magnesium malate is the result of combining two valuable substances that may provide even more health benefits. The Ancient Roman word for apple was malum, and it was from apples that malic acid was first synthesized. It has been found that many fruits and vegetables also contain malic acid. The combination of magnesium and malic acid may help to intensify the benefits of both. In fact, joining malic acid to magnesium makes it easier for the body to absorb and use this important mineral. It’s actually hard to find a metabolic function that doesn’t depend upon magnesium malate in some way
How Inflammation Can Cause Trouble
Inflammation occurs when the body perceives that something is wrong and tries to correct it. Pathogens are a source of trouble and injuries may also result in an inflammatory response. To a certain extent, inflammation is good because the body is responding to a threat. However, inflammation becomes a problem when it continues for too long a time, even after the original incident is long gone.
Athletes May Benefit from Magnesium Malate
One of the factors that drives extreme athletes, mountain climbers, and bodybuilders is a desire for excellence. However, getting every bit of what is needed out of muscles may be difficult as fatigue sets in. Muscles that are used hard will consume available oxygen to provide energy. As the oxygen is used up, lactic acid begins to build and muscles become unable to continue; in effect, the engine has run out of gas. Magnesium malate may help muscles to produce more ATP, which is critical to energy production in the cell. Another benefit is that magnesium malate may help to increase the strength of muscle tissue.
Helping to Treat Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome often go together. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome that results in generalized body pain, especially as pertains to the muscles or skeletal system. It can be hard to pin down what has caused the syndrome, but it could result from surgery, injury, illness, or even too much stress. Regardless of the cause, it can make life unpleasant. Those with this condition may suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome, too, which causes fatigue even after an entire night’s sleep. Because it has been discovered that those who have fibromyalgia often are not producing enough malic acid normally, a magnesium malate supplement may help to bring malic acid levels back up and perhaps relieve some of the symptoms of both chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.
