    Why Organic Matters
Think of the organic seal on this package as a promise and a guarantee. That the ingredients in your Nature's Path breakfast bowl have been grown with the highest possible standards, in harmony with nature, reducing exposure to toxic synthetic chemicals and genetically modified seeds. Organic food and farming always works to leave our bodies and the Earth better.

$1 Million of Food Bank Love
Arjan and Rimjhim (part of Nature's Path's 'Founding Family') were inspired to create the original Love Crunch in preparation for their wedding, and everyone loved it, so they decided to share it (and some new flavors) with the world. And when they asked people to give back to their communities in lieu of wedding presents, they as a company were inspired to give back, too. So for every bag of Love Crunch you buy, they'll donate an equal amount to food banks in food or cash, up to $1 million through Nature's Path's Bite4Bite program.

    About Nature's Path

    Manifesto
At Nature's Path, they live for healthy, great-tasting organic foods. It's why they get up in the morning. But they are also a company that wants to do more than just sell breakfast foods. They aspire to advance the cause of people and planet, along the path to sustainability. And they like to think they put their money where their mouth is. Or rather, where their heart is. Because growing organic, healthy foods in a sustainable way is their passion—the cornerstone of their family company. It's where, and how, it all began.

But they also know that when it comes down to it—no matter what kind of a difference they want to make as a company, and no matter how much you share those values—if their food isn't delicious and exciting, they're not living up to their fullest potential.

Healthy foods don't need to be boring and tasteless. Which is why they spend their days and nights dreaming up new recipes, tracking down exotic new ingredients, and researching the latest (or most ancient) superfoods. They know you'll be pretty impressed when you read their labels. But they hope you'll be even more impressed when you take your first bite.

    Roots
They're a family of organic farmers and their ilk, descended from more farmers and more ilk. The seed of their company was planted back in the ‘30s, when Rupert Stephens inherited the family farm: Mountain Valley Farm, 89 acres of hard living, a place to grow field berries and a family. Even by Depression-era standards, where sheer inventiveness kept families going through times of scarcity, Grandpa Rupert was an odd duck. He horrified his farm neighbors by using sawdust as mulch. Rupert found ways to work with it, turning in rich crops of berries and vegetables. In 1951 his treatise on his unorthodox farming methods was published as Sawdust is my Slave.

Arran Stephens grew up on that unconventional farm and came away with a lifelong love of soil and nature. His fondest memories are of helping his parents gather and spread kelp on the fields, planting corn with his father and wandering through the farm eating sun-ripened berries. Arran followed a path that led from the farm to India and ultimately to becoming one of the pioneers in the organic foods movement. He and Ratana founded Nature's Path in 1985, and their family is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.

    Fair Trade Certified
If you're familiar with Nature's Path at all, you've probably come across the phrase 'Leave the earth better than you found it'. It's kind of their mantra. It's a quote from their founder's Dad, and it's something they try to keep front of mind with everything they do. It's part of the reason they source as locally as possible, as much as possible. So far, they've managed to source 78% of their ingredients in North America. But when they can't, that mantra is the reason they try to source them as ethically as possible, and why they partner up with suppliers who share their values for organic agriculture and sustainability. That in mind, they're committed to purchasing all of their organic cocoa fair trade, and they're doing what they can to purchase their organic sugar cane, molasses, and spices from fair trade farmers, so they can have a better earth, too.

    Certified Organic
Nature's Path is proud to say that all of their products are certified organic! In the 40-plus years since Arran Stephens opened his first organic restaurant, he has worked tirelessly to spread the organic love far and wide. From producing the first USDA certified organic cereals, to buying up farmland in order to convert it to organic, to supporting outreach to organic farmers, to installing an organic garden at their corporate headquarters in Richmond BC, Arran has worked to keep organic advocacy at the forefront of their company's mission. He even went so far as to create a the position of Organic Program Manager in 2003, and hired Dag Falck for the job of overseeing organic operations and help conventional farmers learn about the benefits of  organic farming. Dag was recognized by the Organic Center for his remarkable contributions to the organic industry as the recipient of the 2012 Science and Technology award.

    Sustainability
Every year, their team strives to make it further down the path to sustainability. To help them along their journey, they signed the Sustainable Food Trade Association's declaration of sustainability in 2008 and they've been using their guidelines to chart their course ever since. Building on the momentum of previous years, in 2011 they managed to take some pretty big steps, steps that helped them achieve some great wins for both people and planet.

    Very rough
Well, health wise I’m assuming they do what they are supposed to do but calling them a ‘lozenge’ is a stretch. After the first one (directions say to let it dissolve, do not chew) my mouth got sore. Those things are ROUGH!!! I ended up dissolving them in boiling water (not an easy task) just to get them useable.
Needless to say, after a week or so I quit using. They need to be smoother and actually have the ability to dissolve.
