Is this product safe to take for children with allergies?
Any child with known fish allergies should consult with a qualified healthcare professional before taking their product as their product does contain Omega 3 powder derived from small fish (though SmartyPants does not contain the more allergenic fish protein). The vitamins and minerals in their product are not known to be allergenic. SmartyPants is free of yeast, wheat, milk, eggs, gluten, salt, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, artificial colors, artificial flavors, and salicylates and are produced in a certified allergen-free facility.

Why does SmartyPants use DHA and EPA from small fish only? Why is that more eco-friendly?
Because smaller fish are lower on the food chain, they bio-accumulate a small fraction of the toxins found in the larger fish used by most vitamin manufacturers. Fish like tuna and salmon can have much higher concentrations of environmental contaminants (PCBs, dioxin, mercury), and they don’t want those things in anyone’s body. Their Fish Oil supplier has a USP certified facility that uses a vacuum filtration process and then third-party lab tested to filter out toxins that are present in the small fish. Also, they wanted to make a vitamin that was as planet friendly as it was kid friendly.
