    Better Than Bouillon Vegetarian No Chicken Base is made with seasoned vegetables.  Better Than Bouillon Vegetarian No Chicken Base produces a standard base with chicken flavor that can be used in soups, gravis and meat stocks.  Better Than Bouillon No Chicken Base contains 1/3 less sodium than other bouillons.

    They don’t test their finished products for gluten; therefore, they do not make any claims or representations regarding gluten. Therefore, they list ingredients that contain gluten on the ingredient statements of their products. These items will be listed using commonly known terms such as Wheat, Barley, Oats or Rye.     The color of my Better than Bouillon has darkened. Does this mean it has gone bad?

    What is Maltodextrin? What is the source of the Maltodextrin?

    Suggested Use

    For best results, refrigerate after opening.

    Basic Stock Directions: Dissolve 1 teaspoon (equal to 1 bouillon cube) No Chicken Base in 8 oz boiling water. For each quart of stock needed, use 1 1/2 tablespoons No Chicken Base. Use basic stock for soups, sauces and gravies, or to cook vegetables, rice or pasta with more flavor.

    Recipe for Tofu Noodle Soup: In a pot, combine 5 cups water, 2 tbsp No Chicken Base, 1 cup chopped carrot, 1 cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup copped onion. Add 1/2 tsp. each of garlic powder, poultry spice and pepper if desired. Cook until the vegetables are soft. Add 1 cup frozen peas, 2 cups cubed drained firm tofu, and 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley. Cook for 5 minutes. Add 2 cups cooked noodles. Makes about 10 servings.

    Very rough
    Well, health wise I’m assuming they do what they are supposed to do but calling them a ‘lozenge’ is a stretch. After the first one (directions say to let it dissolve, do not chew) my mouth got sore. Those things are ROUGH!!! I ended up dissolving them in boiling water (not an easy task) just to get them useable.
    Needless to say, after a week or so I quit using. They need to be smoother and actually have the ability to dissolve.
