The Adventurous & Enterprising History of Badia

Badia is a Hispanic food company with a long history, stretching back to its 1967 by Jose Badia. Jose fled from Cuba in the 1960s to escape the communist regime of Fidel Castro. Like many exiles, he ended up in Miami, Florida, where he opened a spice store in the neighborhood known as Little Havana. The taste of spices from home appealed to the many Cubans then seeking sanctuary in Florida, and the business grew explosively. Today, it’s still in the family, owned and operated by Joseph “Pepe” Badia, the son of Jose, and now selling quality organic spices in 68 countries.
