    JR Liggett’s Beginnings

Rural Americans, up to just a few decades ago, used to make their soap themselves. It was JR’s aunt from Nebraska who first introduced him to soap making. This may have gotten JR interested, but it wasn’t until he discovered an old recipe for ‘hair soap’ in an old book that a real spark was struck. Years passed, and at some point, JR and his wife wanted to leave the city and move to the country. Having an income was paramount and it was then that JR’s wife suggesting making ‘hair soap’ and selling it. This is how JR Liggett’s was born, and his bar shampoos still are made the natural way right in New Hampshire.
