Lotus Foods Offers Delicious Rice-Based Dishes

Rice is one of the staples of many of the world’s peoples, and for a number of very good reasons. Lotus Foods knows that not only does rice taste good, it also provides a heart-healthy grain alternative. Lotus Foods rice, rice noodles, and soups are a wonderful way to get valuable carbohydrates that are gluten-free, kosher, and trans-fat-free. Lotus Foods may help to provide their customers with a whole new, and delicious, way to enjoy soups or side dishes.

    The Inspiration Behind Lotus Foods

Travel is often said to broaden one, and this was certainly the case with the founders of Lotus Foods. A trip to China introduced them to what had been an unknown rice to them – black rice. This black rice, Forbidden Rice, had previously only been allowed to be served to the emperor, to help make sure that he lived a long and healthy life. Soon after returning to the States, importation of black rice from China began. From simple rice, Lotus Foods has expanded to include noodles, ramen and other rice-based foods.

How Lotus Foods Made a Difference

One of the most astounding ways that Lotus Foods has made a big difference is in the way rice is grown. While it may seem strange that one company could have an impact, this has been the case. Lotus Foods soon began to partner with small farmers overseas to help them grow their rice better and in more eco-friendly ways. These farmers soon realized both the environmental and economic benefits of using newer and better growing methods, resulting in a win-win situation. Farmers now got more money for their rice and Lotus Foods (and their consumers) got a better, more nutritious rice.
